Making their much-anticipated debut at St Saviour’s on Thursday November 05th is the Otis Jay Blues Band. They can genuinely claim to be local heroes, having formed in Southbourne in late 2021 to play at the U3A Blues Appreciation Group. Word spread, and the OJBB were soon appearing weekly on the bandstand in central Bournemouth. Since then they have gone from strength to strength, the jigsaw completed when singer/keyboardist Cecilia was added to Dave Galley (drums), David Herrington (harmonica) and Mick St Michael (bass/vocals). Since then, with assistance from guitar wizard Pete Jones, the Hants and Dorset festival circuit has resounded to female-fronted blues, Southbourne-style! Expect covers of classic blues from the Chess label – Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Sonny Boy Williamson – and the best of British blues legends like Fleetwood Mac and the Rolling Stones. A ‘set within a set’ honours Eric Clapton, while instrumental, acoustic and electric numbers are interspersed to effect…not to mention the odd original. Since February 2025 St Saviours Church have been hosting music concerts in the Church/Church hall on the 1st Thursday of every month. (Aprils concert will be held on 09th)
Doors open at 7.00pm with a 7.30 start, tickets priced at £7 pp on the door. Refreshments will be available, before the concert starts and at the interval.
Concerts tend to end no later 9.30pm.
The concerts will be at St Saviours Church hall, Colemore Road, BH76RZ with entry in the link (the glass building connecting the church building to the hall)

November 5th – Otis Jay Blues Band
The concerts are an opportunity to see and hear, live, established and more frequently up and coming artists, musicians and bands form a wide range of musical genres.
St Saviours see this as an outreach opportunity; to engage on a social basis with our neighbours and local community. It will help build relationships, a community spirit and in addition help with funding our many Church groups including youth and children clubs, foodbanks and other charitable organisations we support.

Please note that off road parking is limited, but there is plenty of free parking available on the adjacent side roads.
