Confirmation provides a moment in your journey of faith when you can affirm both your faith and your commitment to follow Jesus. A confirmation service is led by a bishop. You will be asked to make affirmations about your beliefs and these will be confirmed by the bishop, who will pray and lay hands on you. The church also prays for you, for the power of the Holy Spirit to help you in your life.
If you would like to be confirmed, we would be pleased to hear from you and to help you prepare for this important step. From time to time classes are run for those interested in being confirmed. We can give you further information about these classes or make other arrangements.
There are also opportunities to explore questions of faith through the Alpha course.
For some adults and young people (if you weren’t baptised as a child) you will need to be baptised before or at the time of your confirmation service. See our section on baptisms to find out more about being baptised as an adult or young person.
