January is World Mission Month at St Saviour’s!
What better way to start the New Year than by looking outwards and asking what part God wants us to play in his world?
Each Sunday through January there will be a special mission focus:
Sunday 5 January: our all-age service will include a ‘get up and move around’ part with the chance to visit and interact with three stations focusing on Poverty, the Persecuted Church, and the Unreached. Not just to learn more, but for all ages to pray and respond to these global needs.
Sunday 19 January: Julian Shelton will be giving us a ‘big picture’ perspective on what God is doing around the world.
Sunday 26 January: Daniel Brooks, our former Moorlands student, will be telling us about how he’s now preparing to serve God long-term in Croatia.
And there’s more!
Instead of our usual Priority 1, we’re planning a special mission prayer event on 13 January at the later time of 7.30pm, with some international guests. Phil and Sylvie Good will be sharing about their work in Lebanon with the Church Mission Society, and we’ll also be hearing from Antoine Thenin about Friends International right here in Bournemouth. Do come along to be inspired and to pray. In case you still need persuading, we’ll even lay on some drinks and nibbles!
We’re encouraging home groups to have a world mission focus during January too, so do look out for ways to get involved. We hope our young people will also have an opportunity explore this theme in their groups.
So let’s prepare our hearts to learn more, care more, and do more to play our part in advancing God’s Kingdom around the world!
