The light shines in the darkness

18th September 2017 by office_team

Now the summer holidays have passed, we are all settling back into the routine of term time. As I pack away the last bits from camp, I find myself looking to things ahead!! And as Halloween items are starting to fill the aisles in the shops, my thoughts are starting to fill with ideas for our Halloween alternative event – the Light Party!

This has become an annual event at St Saviour’s. It has Jesus and Light at the centre of all its fun and celebrations, on a night when celebrating things of darkness and making them out to be fun have become popular in the world around us. (If you would like to know more about why we don’t celebrate Halloween, pick up a copy of the leaflet ‘HALLOWEEN, harmless or harmful?’ by J.John, available in the Link.)

Whilst I don’t want to spoil the surprise and tell you too much, I can tell you that the ‘mini-neons’ are coming to visit us again. And, I believe that this year they are going on a space adventure!! So bring along your children, friends and family and join in all the fun!  Flyers will be available in a few weeks’ time, with all the information that you will need.

Also, to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the event, keep safe and have loads of fun, we will need a huge army of helpers!! Please consider if you can be part of the team!! A sign-up sheet will be going up shortly. Could you help with decorating the hall, preparing crafts, and building the set during the week before? Or on the night, could you help with running a cafe in the Link, stewarding (to help with safety), running craft and activity tables (you don’t need to be amazing at crafts), helping the kids and chatting to them and their parents, face painting, doing the BBQ and serving food, supervising the bouncy castle, or helping clear away at the end? Obviously, the more people we have on the team, the lighter the load through the evening!!

Please be praying and considering how you can be a part of this exciting evening and be ready to sign up!
