Come, worship the Lord …

10th October 2017 by office_team

It was back in September 2002 that the worship team (as we know it today) first came into being. Since then, we have seen members come and go, but also some who have been with us along the journey. We continue to be hugely blessed by the giftings of our current members, all of whom give up their time to practise and be part of the group on a Sunday morning, as well as occasional other services or events. We work on a rota basis with one of several lead musicians or worship leaders responsible for a team of people each week. I am grateful for all they do week-by-week.

Voluntary opportunity

Usually when I write about opportunities in the worship team there is a requirement to sing or play an instrument … on this occasion we are looking for someone to help out in a voluntary admin role – this would involve approximately half an hour a week reporting the songs we use to the Church Copyright Licensing organisation (this can be done online via a computer or tablet) and also asking and coordinating the teams’ availability for the rota (this may take a couple of hours per month). If you feel this is something you would like to do to support the worship team, please let me know.

Christmas singers

I don’t know where this year has gone (a sign of age!) but here we are in the autumn again with Christmas now only a few months away, which means in musical terms, we are starting to make preparations for the Christmas services! The last couple of years we have been blessed by Phil and Angela leading the Christmas singers – they are kindly doing the same again this year, and this year the singers will just be part of our Carols by Candlelight service (evening of 17 December).

If you would like to be involved with this year’s Christmas  singers, please let Phil and Angela know by the end of October via the church office.

Or alternatively, let anyone in the worship team know and we will pass on your details.

Please remember the worship team in your prayers as they lead you in the musical aspects of our worship week by week.
