Christian Aid Week 10-16 May

4th May 2020 by office_team

Christian Aid Week is NOT cancelled!

Now more than ever our gifts, prayers and action are desperately needed. However, like a lot of things at the moment, this year it is going to be a bit different. There can be no contact events, but instead there are going to be exciting events online to help you join together in fun and fellowship this May.

Join virtual events throughout Christian Aid Week

It’s more important than ever to come together as a community to worship and to share fun and fellowship. That’s why during Christian Aid Week will be live-streaming worship every day, as well as hosting a daily fun quiz that you can join in and raise funds. All you need to be able to do is click a link, so sign up using the links below to take part.

Daily worship live-streaming – a prayer and reflection with guest speakers

Daily fun quiz – time to get your family and friends involved and have some fun

Quiztian Aid • Saturday 2 May • 7.30pm

Sign up to join Quiztian Aid with Revd Kate Bottley and celebrity guests. Get your thinking caps on and join Quiztian Aid to help vulnerable people across the world.

Deliver an e-envelope/give directly

You can’t put real envelopes through letterboxes this Spring, but you can deliver them to inboxes! Christian Aid has created an e-envelope that you can personalise and send by email, as well as share on social media. Click on the link to find out how you can deliver an e-envelope.

Or you can give directly to Christian Aid Week via the Christian Aid website where possible or call 020 7523 2269 to give by telephone.

‘300,000 steps in May’ Facebook challenge

There’s going to be a new fundraiser from 1 May in Facebook, for people who want to challenge themselves to walk 300,000 steps in May. It could be in the house, in the garden, or using your daily out-of-home allowed exercise – with physical distancing measures.

Later this year

Locally, if everything is favourable, we still hope to do the sponsored walk. I’m also hoping to do our Bake-Off sometime – just had a vision of lots of rainbow cakes!

‘As the coronavirus spreads across the world, love rises in response.’

At the moment Christian Aid is facing the very real challenges of this coronavirus pandemic. Their priority has been to work with their partners across the world to do their best to prepare for when coronavirus strikes poor communities. In some countries, they are already responding to the crisis. If you would like to donate specifically to the Coronavirus Emergency Appeal, please go the appeals page on the Christian Aid website.

We made such a difference together last year. Will you stand with us again?

Christine Moyes, Christian Aid representative
