Cheerful giving

18th July 2018 by office_team

This time last year I was asked to give you an idea what a 10% tithe looked like and I was pleased to do so (I can make copies if you need another look). I was also pleased that some of you took the information to heart and re-appraised your giving – but I’m afraid not enough of you took up the challenge and we are again looking at a shortfall this coming year of somewhere between £20 – £30,000.

So, as you look at renewing your club memberships, after the summer break, to the gym, tennis club, bowling club, political club, football club, dance club, social club, etc., please remember all the many different clubs that the church runs and that need your support. Because without support, whether it be time, effort, talents or financial, we will have to consider curtailing some of our activities – and most of us do not want to see that happen, do we? So, please be generous in your support, in whatever way you give it.

Some of you will be well aware that most of our church doors need replacing – especially the fire doors, as they are rather old and well-worn. Parts of the church now need re-decorating and re-pointing, especially after the lead was stolen off the roof earlier in the year and all that rain and weather got in. We also desperately need a new outside noticeboard. Well, we are introducing a Fabric Fund to cover the cost of the first stage of these repairs. So, to that end we aim to raise £10,000 this year with your help. Fundraising events will be published soon.

A big thank you to those church members that have supported in the past – and a big welcome to those who will support us in the future.

May God bless you in your giving, and if you need to discuss giving of any kind please feel free to see me any time I’m around, or Chris Thorpe or Chris Moyes.

Pat Smart, Treasurer
