Alpha changes lives!

19th December 2017 by office_team

A big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who contributed to Alpha at St Saviour’s this year; whether it was praying over the course, being part of the team, being one of the wonderful caterers, leading worship, providing refreshments, contributing financially, or attending the course itself. Please be encouraged by a few comments from folk who attended the course this year:

‘Rewarding; has enriched my faith.’

‘I have been blessed with more confidence and vision for the future.’

‘Inclusive, interactive and thought-provoking.’

‘It confirmed my belief in God.  I believe God has a plan for me.’

‘”Jesus is Lord” and he will help me and direct me, and care for me.’

‘I am now in a positive frame of mind and I am sure it’s down to Alpha. I must admit I nearly didn’t attend as I only usually attend church at Christmas and when I feel the need.’

‘A memorable journey.’

‘I realised that I needed to forgive.’

‘The opportunity to learn about the Christian faith in a very open and non-judgemental environment.’

‘God touched me profoundly on the Holy Spirit day; I did not want to leave!’

Finally some words from the folk who led the discussion groups as part of the course:

‘It was a great privilege to witness people feel comfortable to share their struggles and joys and go forward in different ways in their relationships with God. The brilliant Alpha clips, the great food served, the prayers of others, the smooth organisation – and the unique transforming work of God’s Holy Spirit – all played a vital part in God’s wonderful, ongoing work in different lives.’

‘For me, Alpha exceeded all my expectations – a great bunch of people, eating, sharing, and exploring faith together, expressing doubts, asking previously unanswered questions in a safe environment. The food was great, the DVDs informative, and group discussions stimulating.  No one came out of the course unchanged.’

Julie Melvin, Alpha Coordinator
